Ardennes is first and foremost a humanist. Ardennes is also a self-taught photographer. She uses the camera as an excuse to talk to people. She is good at it — at least at the talking. And creating photographs too. Her work primarily focuses on portraiture and documentary photography, and it aims to spark discussions on topics such as representation, power, and migration issues. She is very attentive to the ethical and moral implications of photography. Ardennes is Swiss, with Italian, American, and Mexican heritage. She is currently based in Zürich. If she’s not taking pictures, you will probably find her on the dance floor making cringe-worthy dance moves or in deep conversation at a café, sipping a cappuccino.
Ardennes is part of the ZKubator What’s Next Compass 2025-26 and of the Swiss Study Foundation.
